NOM*D Celebrates
August 12th, 2008 | Auckland
New Zealand designer Margarita Robertson has come a long way since her days of designing knitwear in the '80s. This month, her label NOM*D celebrates 21 years of defining knitwear trends and Kiwi style. Donned by musicians, artists, film makers and every punk in the country, NOM*D is one of few labels responsible for defining the "New Zealand look."To celebrate more than two decades of the label's success, Robertson has put together an iconic European Winter '08 collection that dabbles in the archives of past NOM*D collections. The result is an all-encompassing mix of textured rayon, taffeta and antique inkblot print mutates.
NOM*D now has 60 international stockists and signature stores worldwide, which illustrate the intellectual qualities synonymous with New Zealand's rising fashion industry. Though the days of twisting the knitwear world upside down have dwindled, Robertson is now an enduring force in the global fashion arena.
