Future Knits
February 12th, 2008 | London
Louise Goldin is living up to her potential as an innovator of new-age knits. Yesterday the up-and-comer showed an Inuit-themed, hyper-futuristic collection charged with creativity and commercial viability—a hard balance to find among London designers.Looks ranged from patterned mini-dresses (particularly cute in pixelated prints) to second-skin bodysuits and turbo vests in luxurious black, gray, and navy blue cashmere yarns—one micro-fitting version was divinely encrusted in Swarovski crystals. The tightly manufactured pieces showed no bounds in production capability.
Three-dimensional details came in the form of bushy, fur shrugs and skiwear-like padding on the elbows of tight-fitting jumpers. As a new generation of buzz-worthy London designers emerges, Goldin is leading the pack.
