Wearing Manish Arora
February 25th, 2008 | Paris/Delhi
If there was any doubt about the wearability of Manish Arora's hyper-decorative creations, yesterday's show vanquished it. Numerous attendees clad in the Indian designer's sensational concoctions looked like chicly exotic peacocks."Manish redux" had women (and men) of various style persuasions turned out in Ikat-patterned jackets and heavily embroidered, swingy A-line skirts—one particularly gorgeous version came in chiffon and was embroidered with fantastical birds. Ladies found the right combination by mixing skirts with sparkly and studded shoes, while the gentleman we spotted went for the gold bomber jacket.
Expect to see more Manish on well-heeled women come fall when he distributes the Casadei pumps he showed on the runway. Statement dressing has a fine new innovator in Arora, who sells at Maria Luisa in Paris.
