Veruschka Vamps Up The Pages

Veruschka from Assouline's The Ultimate Collection
Author David Wills has teamed up with legendary supermodel Veruschka for a book about her life and career. The leggy German beauty is an iconic emblem of '60s glamour, making this stunning volume a must-have coffee table companion.

Born Vera von Lehndorff, Veruschka is the daughter of count-turned-German Resistance fighter Heinrich Graf von Lehndorff-Steinor. She was raised in what is modern-day Russia by her widowed mother, but began a full-time modeling career after she was discovered by Ugo Mulas while visiting Florence. Wills' sleek, hardbound tome chronicles Veruschka's subsequent rise to fame. The book includes interviews with legendary Vogue editors Grace Mirabella and Diana Vreeland, while Veruschka herself provides commentary on photographs by Steven Meisel, Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. The resulting compendium reflects one woman's influential life—beautifully capturing her artistic dedication and lasting legacy.

Published by French house Assouline for its The Ultimate Collection series, Veruschka is set for a limited-edition release in September.
