Retail Watch: Frock Dresses Up Park Slope
July 15th, 2008 | Brooklyn
Vintage dress shop Frock has a new outpost on New York's other 5th Avenue—between Garfield Place and 1st Street in Brooklyn's über-gentrified Park Slope neighborhood. The store is stocked with many a YSL, Emanuel Ungaro and Cacharel from the '60s through the '80s, and all sourced from the private closets of New York's best dressed. We spotted a Rive Gauche black-and-white polka dot shirt-dress (very Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman) and a Working Girl-style red V-neck dress by Valentino among the ceiling-suspended racks in the bare, white-walled space. Meanwhile, the equally impressive accessories collection includes treasures like a Pierre Cardin carryall in navy with burgundy piping.
Editorial stylist/owner Evan Ross' pieces don't come cheap (most dresses are in the $400 range and can reach up to $3,500), but they're all glossy-page and red carpet-worthy.

The shots were captured primarily at Michael Roberts' book signing for Saved (a photo essay on life at the beach in Rio) and at the samba rumbling fete at The Oteros and at Jo de Mer's show at Oscar Neimeyer's first house in Brazil.
