For autumn/winter '08-'09, wrap up in something warm yet stylish with Eternal Child's new collection of knit couture. New York-based designer Gül Gürdamar draws inspiration from her Turkish roots as well as contemporary artist Karen Kilimnik for the chic line. The result is a collection of fine knits made into cozy garments such as sweater dresses and reworked cardigans.
The a/w 08-'09 selection comes in a rich autumnal palette of finest Italian wools—superkid mohair, extra fine wool and alpaca merino blend pieces are accessorized with silk chiffon, lace and vintage gold buttons. This season also introduces a delicate pointelle knit, which works perfectly with lace and chiffon. And, of course, Eternal Child's signature jacquard knits and intarsia patterns continue in full bloom.
This innovative mix of knit structures and contrasting textures has made an impact in concept and specialty boutiques in Tokyo, Dubai, New York, Russia, London and Istanbul. And yet, despite such international success, Eternal Child remains strongly rooted in the Turkish traditions. Gürdamar explains: "[Istanbul] boasts famous knitting ateliers"—an unrivaled asset that has given her a refined sense of quality and an advanced knowledge of knitting techniques.
